I channel my dad all the time in the classroom. Randall Baker’s only rules were you don’t whine and you don’t deliberately disobey. Besides that, “All rules are meant to be broken” and “don’t ask permission, ask forgiveness.” Today, a kid started whining and I just started yapping at him like a small dog louder than his whining. The whole class laughed and the kid shut up. It’s moment like that I say, “I am Randall Baker” I am surprised how many techniques my dad used in his kindergarten classes that I still use today. “Give me your eyeballs” and “keep your hands to yourself” are expressions I say ALL the time.
